This project was a complete new building constructed inside the old masonry exterior walls, partially destroyed by fire May 15, 2001. The work included new concrete and steel floor, all new interiors, HVAC, electrical, restrooms, elevator and penthouse. The exterior was refurbished with new high efficiency windows, lead-coated copper roofing, new cut limestone details and stone repair. The interior walls were designed to allow natural light to enter the inner corridors. The square footage was increased from 30,700 to 43,243. The original copper pilaster caps were saved from the fire by being in the repair shop at the time.
